Hierba Mala is my senior thesis project. It tells the story of Jacinto Flores, a boy who lives in the shadows of his mother’s infamy. Shunned by the town and deemed a witch’s son, He must deal with what she left behind in the forest. Something that is becoming too much for Jacinto to bear alone.

In this project, I aimed to explore familial bonds and cycles of abuse. As well as how an individual can continue to suffer from its effects, even after said abuse is “over”. What does a child owe their parent? Is it worth bearing their sins and sharing the same fate?
